How much clearance is needed for a wrench?

The required clearance will vary on application and tool size but if a standard low clearance wrench doesn’t have a low enough profile you might have to also use some form of spanner link in conjunction with your hydraulic wrench.

The only reason why you wouldn’t be able to use a low clearance wrench on a fastener would just be fitment issues. If you can fit the tool in place and you have a proper reaction point there will be nothing to limit that tools use on the fastener.
