How much clearance is needed for a wrench?
The required clearance will vary on application and tool size but if a standard low clearance wrench doesn’t have a low enough profile you might have to also use some form of spanner link in conjunction with your hydraulic wrench.
What are the different types of hydraulic wrenches?
In general there are two different styles of hydraulic wrenches. You typically have a square drive & a low-clearance style wrench. You have your standard Square Drive hydraulic torque wrench that usually comes in the following drives sizes, 3/4″, 1″, 1.5″ & 2.5″

Can low clearance hydraulic wrenches be used on any type of fastener?
The only reason why you wouldn’t be able to use a low clearance wrench on a fastener would just be fitment issues. If you can fit the tool in place and you have a proper reaction point there will be nothing to limit that tools use on the fastener.
