An impact wrench is used for the fast removal and application of nuts & bolts.
Impact wrenches typically have a higher capacity than an impact driver.
Impact wrenches only damage bolts when they are used over torque bolts or at times when the nut and bolt are cross threaded and then torque is applied.
Impact wrenches can be a very good break out tool to help loosen rusted bolts/nuts. The impact force of the wrench in conjunction with the torque applied is typically a good option to remove seized bolts/nuts. If an impact wrench doesn’t work you might either need to increase the torque output by using other tools such as hydraulic or pneumatic wrenches or in some cases you might need a nut splitter.
