OFFSET GEARBOXES

When it comes to achieving torque in applications where you do not have the “above the nut” clearance to fit a standard RAD Torque tool, an offset gearbox will be the solution for you. RAD offers two many styles of offset Gearboxes. The CX series & the HX series of Offset Gearboxes. Each style serves it’s own unique purpose in the bolting world.

For applications where space for tool placement is limited, the CX Offset Gearbox can provide you with a solution. The CX Offset Gearbox simply extends the torque wrench’s reach to the bolt, enabling the operator to precisely tighten the bolt.

The CX Offset Gearbox series can be used with different tool sizes thanks to the interchangeable drive insert. At the same time, the output side can be adapted to different sizes by using hexagon insert reducers.

The versatile CX Offset Gearbox series can be used to tighten bolts up to 3,000 ft lbs, with a maximum Hex size of 65 mm. The CX Offset Gearbox series is designed to work with several types of RAD torque wrenches CX can be used up to the 30 DX gearbox and reacts off the side of the Offset Gearbox.

 

For plate heat exchanger applications, RAD has engineered a special solution: the HX Offset Gearbox series. The HX Offset Gearbox series is designed to work with several types of RAD torque wrenches.

The HX Offset Gearbox is designed with a 1.86:1 ratio for tightening plate heat exchangers. The 1.86:1 ratio works very well with RAD automatic 2-speed gearboxes as the run-down will be very fast.

Depending on the application, pneumatic, battery & electric tools can be used. For extended use, RAD advises pneumatic torque wrenches due to long run-down times and speed.
